The language of instruction is English.
The programme will also be available in Hungarian, provided that a sufficient number of candidates apply. Participants can obtain 9 ECTS credit points for the course, and the University of Pécs will issue them a Certificate in Central European Studies.
Objectives
CESUN is a two-week intensive programme designed to give an insight into the region's past and present, with a special emphasis on Hungary. For the past 17 years or so, Central - in the political sense, Central Eastern- Europe has been a region in transformation from post Cold War economic and political structures to democratization, free market reforms and EU membership. Within the programme we will, on the one hand, look into the political, cultural, artistic and historical heritage of the region, on the other hand, we will investigate the varying degrees to which political, economic, societal and cultural changes have occurred for the different peoples and nations of Central Europe. Furthermore, we will provide a firsthand opportunity to experience Central Eastern Europe on national and regional levels: not only do we offer 60 hours of course work (lectures and seminars), but we also provide several field trips and social events to engage with the everyday life of the people of the region.
