Twenty years’ experience shows that engineers in Management, Economics and Industrial Engineering have a wide range of opportunities within the job market: with manufacturing and service companies, consultancy, financial institutions and in government service.
The job market has, in fact, welcomed the professional figure of the management engineer ever since its inception, and this interest is on increase. The success of management engineers is confirmed by ISTAT (Italian Statistics Office) which, in its publication “University and employment: The right degree for finding a stable and satisfying job. Ed. 2004”, states that: “A survey updated in September 2004 shows that engineering graduates find work most easily and, more specifically, the best positions are awarded to young Management Engineering graduates”.
A survey on Politecnico di Milano engineering graduates conducted by Associazione Impresa Politecnico in 1999 revealed that graduates in Management, Economics and Industrial Engineering - between 3 and 9 years after graduation - were employed in 95% of cases as senior managers / executives (twice as much as the average of Engineering in general), and had become entrepreneurs (in companies founded by themselves or their families) in 5% of cases. A large number of them was working in the service industry, especially in consultancy, and the others were uniformly distributed in various activities (logistics, manufacturing, organization, management, marketing, finance, etc.).
